missUNDERSTOOD
Gasping for air, but it still feels like you're suffocating and it's hard to breathe.
That's how being misunderstood feels.
At least to me.
When others have gone through their difficult times, I've been there.
To offer an encouraging word.
To just be there and offer support when words aren't enough and let them they're not alone.
When their situation alters their mood, I don't judge; I know who they really are at their core and this momentary change is just due to their circumstance.
When they react to things differently, I don't judge; some people need time away to cope when they're going through something, and that's okay and I respect it.
One would think, when the tables turn and I'm in my season I'd be given the same grace.
No.
Of course not.
When I'm a little more short tempered than before, "Oh goodness, what's wrong with you?"
When I'd rather be alone instead of dampening the mood of others, "Don't be like that. They expect you to be there; you have to go."
I'll never understand why I'm not afforded the same grace or respect as others.
I'll never understand why it's okay for others to deal with their storms however they see fit, but when I show any sign of human emotion that's the opposite of happiness I'm almost chastised and condemned for it.
When the most understanding person is forever misunderstood, it's a heavy load to carry... but I guess someone's gotta do it.
